Welcome to Full On Freedom, the podcast! I’m your host, Rebecca Muriuki, ex Corporate Director & twin mom. I left a high-paying Corporate job to create a life of full-on freedom by monetizing my expertise and building my wealth. This is your space to imagine a career you don’t have to escape to experience the freedom you truly want to be living every single day. You’ve had the nudges that you’ve outgrown your corporate career. You find yourself thinking “I wonder if I could make more money while working for myself outside of this office cubicle”. You know the freedom you desire is not compatible with your overly demanding corporate job. And while it has served you well, it’s time to choose yourself first and create a career that revolves around your lifestyle and the time and financial freedom you deserve. On your terms. Whether it’s the freedom to do the school run, or the freedom to do Yoga at 10AM on a Thursday, or the freedom to prioritize yourself (hello self-care Fridays), this is where you get to create a career that revolves around freedom! This is the No 1 podcast for black corporate high-achieving women, who want to step into another level of wealth, leave their corporate jobs, work for themselves and monetize their expertise. Have you ever negotiated the terms of a promotion? More likely than not, women will accept the terms of a promotion without negotiating for the benefits that come with the package.
An HBR study shows that even when women negotiate, they are 10-15% less likely to get what they want. This gap widens even more at the leadership levels, as there are more belief patterns driven out of fear that we might miss out on the opportunity if we try to push back and negotiate.
While there are multiple factors that are out of our control as black corporate career women, we can certainly change the narrative and use our voices and the value of our work to get compensated for what we deserve.
Join me as I empower you with the mindset to negotiate a promotion package, and other things you need to know like
- whether you should negotiate or accept the terms of a promotion
- why you have won even if you don't get what you are negotiating for
- how to nail your negotiation
- how to approach negotiation strategically so you can make this an easier decision for the decision-makers at work
