How to step into your cultural power as a black woman at work
Thursday Mar 09, 2023
Thursday Mar 09, 2023
Do you see your culture as a liability or an asset when it comes to climbing the corporate ladder?
It takes courage to embrace your cultural identity, especially in workplaces where you can't see people in leadership who look like you.
I only recently started to say my full name out loud in meetings for fear of the immediate biases it would trigger...
But when I stepped into my true self and embraced that this was part of who I was bringing to the table, I felt so liberated, and it reflected in my confidence and the perception others had of me.
And even though I had to deal with the biases of being black, wearing my God-given hair or speaking English in my African accent, I found people who wanted to support black women like me at work.
In this episode you will learn about:
- The consequences of not being authentic at work
- The importance of owning your cultural identity and educating others about
- The role your cultural identity plays in the personal brand and allies you can create
- What to do when someone labels you as the token diversity hire

From Someday to Now: Closing the gap between your thoughts, feelings and actions
Thursday Mar 02, 2023
Thursday Mar 02, 2023
If you are a frequent listener, by now you have been inspired to start thinking and dreaming big. But those big goals can often create gaps - gaps that you didn't even know existed.
In this episode, which is straight out of a Monday Mindset Session from the Elevate Collective, we discuss the importance of aligning your mindset with the feelings you would have if you achieved the goal.
I am a big believer that you are never alone in the process of creating your goals, and so I share my experience of the power of co-creation and leaning on your higher power for inspiration and intuition to take the next step toward your career goal.
If you have the book, listen to Think and GRow Rich - chapters 3 & 4 after listening to the episode.

3 Ways To Powerfully Lean Into Your Introvert Strengths As A Leader At Work
Thursday Feb 23, 2023
Thursday Feb 23, 2023
When you’re an introvert navigating the corporate world, it can be easy to feel as though your introversion is a weakness.
People constantly say that to be seen as a leader, you need to start speaking up more. You need to take charge. But when you’re an introvert, these things simply don’t come easily to you…and it can quickly begin to feel like leadership is entirely out of reach.
Luckily, this isn’t true.
I’m a leadership coach. My job is to teach people how to be great leaders…and guess what? I’m a proud member of the introvert club.
Introversion is not a weakness…in fact, it comes with many strengths that lend themselves well to leadership, if you let yourself lean into them. And I’m here today to tell you how.

I'm excited to be sharing a recording from my Elevate Live Wednesday show. I go live and interact and talk about topics on LinkedIn and Instagram to be able to really connect with the audience. And this topic was too good not to share!

Radical Goals, Radical Results
Thursday Feb 02, 2023
Thursday Feb 02, 2023
When we grow up, we have a bad habit of setting aside ALL childish things…even the things that would serve us in our careers.
As children, we set goals without concern for reason, limitation, or achievability. When we set goals, we set them without worrying about the “odds” of us being able to complete them.
As adults, we tend to lose that ability to dream without limits…and we need to find a way to change that.
It’s time to give yourself permission to set radical goals for yourself, because that is the only way you will reach incredible heights in your career.
If you missed out on joining the Elevate Collective, good news–even though our doors are now closed until July, I’m giving you an inside look at one of our coaching calls in this episode of elevateHER!

Setting Goals With Intention: A Discussion Between Career Coaches
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
Thursday Jan 26, 2023
A couple weeks ago, in Episode 72 of elevateHER, I talked about setting good goals for the year. This week, I’ve invited a guest on the podcast to talk a little more about how to set goals with intention as you’re going through a transitionary period.
Please welcome Audrey Kusambiza Bolo, who works with clients navigating change and transition, needing to make big, bold decisions in the pursuit of balance, clarity, passion, or purpose. Her mission is to support people to make decisions aligned with their truth, and I cannot wait for you all to hear what she has to say.
Intention is everything if you want to set goals you’ll actually achieve. Excitement is good, but it fades over time…and you need something more permanent to fuel yourself through your next transition!

A Sneak Peek Behind the Elevate Collective Curriculum
Thursday Jan 19, 2023
Thursday Jan 19, 2023
When you sit through eight meetings in one day and realize…
- Only one meeting included any other women besides yourself, and
- That only one of THOSE women spoke up during that meeting…
You know that something needs to change.
I created The Elevate Collective because of one thing:
We need more black women in leadership, period.
And while many companies are paying lip service to the issue, I have yet to see real action taken to lead us into real change…
So I decided to take action myself.
In this episode of elevateHER, I want to take you behind the scenes of my group coaching program, The Elevate Collective, created specifically for ambitious career women who want to create their leadership identity and get seen, paid, and promoted as the boss leader they truly deserve to be.

Is a Group Program Right for You?
Thursday Jan 12, 2023
Thursday Jan 12, 2023
When I first found out how much my husband was paying for monthly coaching, I couldn’t believe it.
More than that, I never thought it was something I should ever consider–I thought of coaching as something that only directors had any business investing in.
I could not have been more wrong.
Now that I know what it’s like to do this work surrounded by other like-minded women, I will NEVER go back to doing it alone. And while a group program isn’t right for everyone at every stage in their development, it’s very possible that it’s a better fit for you than you think. If you…
- Have been operating at the status quo for far too long
- Are aware that you need accountability + support in order to stay committed to your goals and build momentum
- Are ready to massively uplevel your career
…a group program may be exactly what you need. Let’s go over all the factors that will let you know whether a group program is the right fit for you.

Are You Interested or Committed to Your 2023 Career Goals?
Thursday Jan 05, 2023
Thursday Jan 05, 2023
Welcome to 2023, ladies!
Today, I want to talk about goals: what makes a great goal, what makes a poor goal, how you can keep yourself invested in your goals for the year, and more.
If you’re making goals from a place of EXCITEMENT, not COMMITMENT, it’s very likely that in just a handful of weeks, you’ll be back to business as usual. Therefore, it’s important to assess your goals to see…
- If your goal is too small
- If your goal is fueled by start-of-the-year excitement, not commitment
- If you named off goals without a game plan for how to achieve them
If you’re not sure your goals fit the criteria, good news—it’s not too late to change them. Let’s talk about how to set goals you can truly commit to.
